Renowned English novelist Jane Austen (1775–1817) is most known for her six books, which include “Sense and Sensibility,” “Pride and Prejudice,” and “Emma.” Austen, a Hampshire native born in Steventon, was raised in a close-knit family that supported her passion for reading and writing. Her father was a preacher.
Even though Austen published her works under pseudonyms while she was still alive, she was a prolific author and is now regarded as one of the most significant personalities in English literature. Her books are renowned for their timeless themes of love, marriage, and class as well as their humorous social satire and realistic depiction of women’s life in Georgian England.
Austen authored poetry, correspondence, and other works in addition to her novels, many of which have been published after her death.
